En medio de la espesura de un bosque lleno de niebla, Ash y sus amigos viajan en armonía hacia Ciudad Carmín. Mientras caminan, Misty vuelve a repetirle a Ash que no le dejará en paz hasta que no le pague una bicicleta nueva, y empiezan a discutir. Brock, para templar un poco las cosas, intenta preparar algo de beber para sus compañeros, pero no tiene fuego para poder hervir el agua. Como Misty prefiere quedarse con Brock para hacerle compañía, Ash se tiene que adentrar en el bosque para buscar algo de leña. Al hacerlo, no encuentra lo que busca, pero ve a lo lejos una luz brillante a la que se acerca.
