Ash junto a sus amigos Misty y Brock, llegan al Rancho Laramie. De repente parece producirse un terremoto, pero en realidad se trata de una estampida creada por Tauros. Ash, tras analizar a los Tauros con su Pokédex, manda a Pikachu a combatir, pero este resulta estar durmiendo, así que en su lugar envía a Charmander, al cuál le ordena utilizar Ascuas, pero antes de usarlo un Growlithe salta sobre el evitando el ataque.
