En este episodio, Ash, Misty y Brock están en Porta Vista. En cierto momento, descubren un Horsea malherido en el océano, el cual trata de contarles algo mediante manchas de tinta. Él dibuja un Tentacool y un Tentacruel, pero nuestros amigos no son capaces de descifrar qué quiere decir el Pokémon. Al poco, un barco que se encontraba a poca distancia de la costa es destruido por los Pokémon marinos, y Ash, Misty y Brock se ven obligados a ir a rescatar a los marineros, con ayuda de Staryu, Starmie y Goldeen. Uno de esos marineros, paralizado, dice que vayan a contárselo a Nastina, su jefa.
