Ash, Misty y Brock caminan tranquilamente por el bosque mientras Pikachu duerme. En ese momento ven a un anciano sentado en una roca, que les llama. El anciano toca una flauta con una bella melodía que despierta a Pikachu. Les pide comida a los chicos, pero estos no tienen nada y siguen su camino. Poco después el Team Rocket se encuentra con el anciano, quien toca su flauta y les pide comida, pero ellos lo ignoran y se van.
