El episodio comienza con Ash y Pikachu entrenando para la Liga Pokémon con la ayuda de Brock y su Vulpix. Ambos usan agilidad; después Ash le ordena a Pikachu usar impactrueno y Vulpix usa su lanzallamas, pero de repente aparece Jigglypuff y ambos desvían sus ataques hacia un lado y por accidente descubren una especie de templo antiguo.
