Nuestros héroes deben pasar por un enorme desierto para llegar a ciudad Olivine, hasta que son emboscados por el Equipo Rocket camuflados de roca tratando de robar a Pikachu; Ash saca a su Cyndaquil para pelear contra el Weezing de James pero termina siendo lastimado en la naríz. Ash protege a Cyndaquil de un ataque de Desechos, pero lanza Gas venenoso y al combinarse con el Lanzallamas de Cyndaquil ocasiona una gran explosión mandando a volar no solo al Equipo Rocket sino a Cyndaquil muy lejos.
