Ash, Misty y Brock van a un pueblo donde ven en un Concurso de lucha sumo una batalla entre Feraligatr y Nidoking sorprendiéndose del nivel de ambos. Luego derrota a un Heracross y a un Granbull. Aquí el entrenador es Ryden y Shonozuko es el director ejecutivo de la sociedad Pokémon sumo. Ryden le cuenta a Ash que estuvo atraído del sumo que dejó de lado su viaje Pokémon para vivir el sumo de mejor manera. Al ver a Feraligatr entrenar, Ash saca a Totodile y se lo presenta a éste Feraligatr. Misty quiso irse pero a Ryden no le molesta el público.
