Continuando su camino a Ciudad Olivo, Ash. Misty y Brock se topan con el Equipo Rocket, que disfrazados de científicos engañan a nuestros héroes y meten a Pikachu en su nueva máquina "pokepod". Aprovechando la pantallahumo de Weezing los ladrones escapan, y en la confusión le arrojan el "pokepod" con Pikachu dentro a Wobbuffet, quien permanecía escondido detrás de unas rocas. Este sin embargo se descubre y Ash lo persigue, pero se tropieza con una roca y cae al río por la cascada, con la llave que abría el "Poképod" o "Pokétanque" colgada a su cuello.
