De camino a Ciudad Iris, vemos a Ash, Misty y Brock observando un grupo de Pokémon planta como Sunflora, Oddish, Bellsprout y Gloom además de un Skiploom que le pertenece a Ephraim, un habitante de la montaña previa a aquella ciudad, luego de hablar un rato, Ephraim quiere retar a Ash a un duelo de Pokémon de tipo planta entre el Skippy y el Chikorita de Ash, el primero usa placaje sin efecto por el tamaño, luego realiza un Doble equipo con gran velocidad pero la hoja afilada de Chikorita encuentran al real, en eso Skiploom lanza dos drenadoras pero el látigo cepa de Chikorita lo para y el placaje hace que gane la batalla.
