Los protagonistas están de camino a ciudad Lilycove/Calagua, cerca de llegar al puerto para ir en ferry, Pikachu que va el primero es atacado y capturado por el Equipo Rocket. Después de que el Equipo Rocket diga su lema y alabe a su nuevo robot, Ash le pide a Pikachu que use rayo sobre el robot, el cual está hecho de materiales aislantes y de mangueras de goma.
