El episodio inicia cuando el narrador cuenta cuando nuestros héroes iniciaron su viaje (capítulos atrás). Y mientras Ash y sus amigos siguen con su viaje hacia Ciudad Férrica, encuentran un cartel sobre el mejor Pokémon del mundo y cuando van al lugar del cartel observan a un entrenador triste que se queja por pelear con "el Pokémon más poderoso del mundo" ya que había perdido y les dice que con el Pokémon que luchó dice que es un Pokémon anormal. Luego nuestros héroes entran al lugar y conocen a Anthony y Ash, entusiasmado, reta a ese Pokémon por primera vez.
