Edward tras lo ocurrido con Nina, entra en una gran depresión, por medio de Riza Hawkeye se enteran de la muerte de la Quimera, en otro momento Scar aparece tratando de matar a Edward, por lo que es inevitable un enfrentamiento entre los hermanos Elric y Scar. Scar consigue destruir una parte de la armadura de Alphonse y el brazo derecho (el Automail) de Edward, pero gracias a la intervención de los militares, no puede matarlo y termina escapando.
