Ash, Brock y Misty siguen su camino hacia Ciudad Trigal, sin embargo para llegar allá tienen que pasar por el Túnel Onix un lugar repleto de Onix muy irritables, tras haber dejado a Squirtle con la oficial Jenny/agente Mara Ash ya no tiene Pokémon de agua para asustar a los Onix sin embargo Misty si tiene todos sus Pokémon de tipo agua. Como era tarde deciden cruzarlo al día siguiente, el Team/Equipo Rocket también necesita cruzar el túnel pero ellos no tienen ningún Pokémon tipo agua así que deciden robarle alguno a Misty.
