Capturan a Higuchi, el cual revela a la policía que mata con un cuaderno. Soichiro Yagami toca el cuaderno y ve a Rem. Una vez Light tiene de nuevo el cuaderno de vuelta en sus manos, recupera la memoria. Sin embargo, si Light deja de tocar la Death Note volverá a perder su memoria de forma automática. Para evitarlo, en un papel del cuaderno escondido en su reloj, escribe el nombre de Higuchi con su sangre para volver a ser el propietario del cuaderno y evitar así perder sus recuerdos. Por otro lado, Misa recupera también todos sus recuerdos al recuperar su cuaderno, volviendo a hacer el trato de los ojos con Ryuk con la intención de conocer el nombre verdadero de L.
