El equipo de investigación instala cámaras de vigilancia para ver las reuniones de Yotsuba, y se sorprenden de ver que discuten abiertamente sus métodos de matar mediante Kira. Light idea un plan y se contacta con Reiji Namikawa, uno de los ocho miembros del grupo. Ambos hacen un acuerdo para que el actúe como un espía y para que posponga las muertes que se habían planeado. L revela que todavía sospecha de Light de ser el primer Kira. Después, L convence a Misa para que se infiltre en el grupo y consiga información.
