Naruto cansado de realizar misiones de rango D pide que se le asigne una misión mayor, por lo que se le asigna la misión de proteger al constructor de puentes, Tazuna, hasta su villa (rango C), pero en el camino son atacados por dos ninjas de Aldea Oculta de la Niebla, en este capítulo Sasuke demuestra su valentía al derrotar a los dos Chūnin de la Niebla, sin embargo Naruto es herido ligeramente pero su herida está envenenada y es entonces cuando Naruto hace un Juramento de Sangre al clavarse un kunai en la herida drenando la sangre envenenada.
